Armor Ahead, revamp

Zekta Chan
Zekta Chan

Seth had a post about BOE on leveling from June

He suggested not to buy nor equip the BOE gear you happened to come across… And I agreed, I usually sell those gear on AH.

However, I come across some exception, and fromed this quick tip…

e.g.
http://www.wowhead.com/?itemset=763
http://www.wowhead.com/?itemset=754
http://www.wowhead.com/?itemset=755
http://www.wowhead.com/?itemset=756
http://www.wowhead.com/?itemset=757

Northern’s Profession 68-74 Green set is too nice to pass. The effictiveness level on those set is as strong as Tier 4 set. With the price stabilized on Northern, tipping for crafting those set is a bargain. (I got mine for 80g/Set)

Consider the time saved on increased you dps on killing each mob.
The oppuertunity cost definitely cover the set.

Take a look on price if you are not convinced.

BrewFest Trade

Zekta Chan
Zekta Chan

Direbrew

No, this post is not about gold.
It’s about pursuits of the Brewfest Mount

So, a normal player are meeting Direbrew 5 times a day.
Some of them is wishing the brewfest mount drop, so they gotta roll on that. With many replicated trinket left behind.

Is that the only way?
How about paying people for summoning Direbrew?

I got an even cheaper solution.

Asking player to summon Direbrew for free…
Yes, it’s cool, but how to get them to do it for free?

Secret ingredient: 75-79 player.

Of course, some of them will fight the boss with their guildmate, but still lots of them are rejected in the PUG channel.

Offer them the Trinket you don’t need anyway
(if it drops, let them have it, Not suitable of their class? it’s free, come tomorrow)
And request that you can get the mount if it drop.

It’s a fair deal for both of you.
Free Summon for Free Trinket.

P.s I know this post is kinda late, but we still got couple of days left~~

Almost Weekly Report (28 Sep)

Zekta Chan
Zekta Chan

Weekly Summary

The Blog

Apart from stress from work, I was quite busy, I only did couple of respond post and silly post recently, if you notice.

I was also busying to set up a counter part of the blog in chinese with some of my fellow traders.

I found that the trade-related information is very limited in the chinese blogosphere (We don’t have much blog anyway). Some of the chinese had a bad traditional, which keep us away from sharing knowledge among each other. Humble is very notable virtue for chinese, but then it encourage people keep secret from each others inhabit the society from evoling.

So I would take some of my time on translating and writing in chinese, and hopefully that won’t draw too much of my time on blogging in english..

On the other hand, I would like to mention again, I am looking for Co-author here, just send me email if you are interested. (I am definitlygo for a formal post later.)

While the end-game content on sight, (My shaman is 77lv now, by the time of editing). I may become yet more slacking on posting, I would post some Goblin pre-raid and raiding post though…

The Blogosphere

Seth had preparing on his podcast, be sure give him some opinion and support.

Lots of WoW-econ blog starting, here is a quick list Wow Enomics team put up. Have a look if you are interested. (The list is too long for me to descript here, but if any new fellow is missing on the list, (Or you want a feature post here), feel free to email me on that, I am more than happy feature you here)

The Business

Still selling the glyphs, after the dark moon faire, I almost sold all of my ink of falling snow, and Enchanting is still stuck on 310, so I am able to disenchant early northen gears but not the higer one.

I am also converting the shround with tailoring, but that seems to be work rather than business to me. As predicted the price of Netherweave cloth is climbing, on my server it was 3g/stack, but climb to 4-4.5 stack now. The price of bag is raised from 7g to 10g now, but I assume with the increase of the price, many will buy Northen-Weave bag instead.

Btw, I reached half the goal, the 100k mark before my gear-buying spere begin.

Change of Player Composition in Battle Ground

Zekta Chan
Zekta Chan

wow_motivation_poster_dedication

Especially true on the 71 to 80 AV Bracket (As of pre-3.2.2)

Player Composition

1. Serious Pvper – Who want to win the battle with strategy and group work.
2. Gankers – Who want to show how powerful they are, by one hit others. And they can’t twink anymore, since they can only face player who are twink as well (From the XP lock system). They want to slaughter, not a fair game… (I am not saying all twink are ganker, but the ganker had a large portion of the pre-3.2 twink community)
3. Low level pvper, (and now, Leveler) – The High level player (e.g. 80 or 70) used to boo them for dragging back the team. But they become the major group in Battle Ground now.

What happened in 3.2

Group 3 increase dramatically, just like what happened welfare Epic handed out back in TBC.
Incentive of leveling in AV is huge (I got a level (73) in AV in 8 battles on Sunday as well).

Group 2 increased as well,
Since the twink battleground do not work anymore, rather than spending hour in the wild for picking low level player, they can just kill those 72-74 player, who are definitely squishy for them.

Conflict of interest

Player in Group 1 and 3 want smooth battle, fast-game since XP only reward on achieving goals only.

While Group 2 (Gankers) don’t give a damn, they just want to show how IMBA (they think) they are, they are the guy who (attempts) kill everyone they come across, start fight in cross road, which will ends up in a turtle game.

Summary

Pre 3.2, the effect of gankers is much more devastating. Since in the past, opposite group 1 players are powerful enough out-weights the gankers,

while in 3.2 the leveler is helpless against them (And thus fuel them with oil).

Thus the setup will shift the balance of fast game to turtle game.

The 3.2.2 71-79, 80 bracket change should able to ease the problem.

Work Piled Up on Desk

Zekta Chan
Zekta Chan
paperwork-desk

I was kinda lazy this week (I was happily leveling with my beloved GF :) ),
So I expected that there is a week’s worth glyph crafting work for me…
The number still surprise me though…

scribe

I should be happy, since I sold around 800+ glyphs last week, I was making 1-2k per day. Consider the price range is 4-10g each, that’s a lot.
(due to my over-stock setup, the glyph to craft number is larger)

but yet, I had some problem crafting them all….
Aside from a very long craft time, my bag was full, when I try to buy all those parchment (177g+ :( )
And also bag space when crafting….

I also used up half of my stockpiled ink of the sea.
Time to get more herbs….
(It’s funny that, every time I wonder if I am overstocked, I’ll run into shortage soon)

Who’s getting the Big-Fat Drake [Off-Topic]

Zekta Chan
Zekta Chan

Okay, I admit this is a bad pun.
Hey, it’s time to finish the Long, Strange Trip.

I must respect to those who get the achievment, it’s truely a feat of persistence.
A really Loooong trip that would be…
I screw myself from couples of the holiday to avoid the temptation of completeing this.

However, I hope there won’t be the same guy/gal of “I lack the gold for repairing my gears”, or they’ll really get my greatest despise.
