If you follow this blog long enough, you’ll know I share quite some political view with Seth and The Goblin.
Yet I am kinda different, I appreciate human kindness and other virtue of human (Pink thing)
Some find it a contradicting, since On the other hand I know the cruelty of uncaring, and I would never count anything on that. (Grey Thing)

I dislike (or even hate) welfare system. Not because we shouldn’t help each other. The problem is these system is inefficient.

• If I want to help others, I would, in my own discretion. Not forced, Not discount my income so that you would help someone you see fit
• When I choose who to help, I weighted if they deserved it or not. Or if there are other form of help they needed.
  One may argue that centralizing the effort together is more efficient, However I am not convinced by the current state of welfare system.
• You don’t know better than I do, Mr. Government. You spent tons of money on researching, yet yielding poor results. You incentive on finding an efficient way of helping those people is low, you just want to get the salaries, the money is not yours.
• Politician handout welfare as freebie, for vote buying. Covering it with “helping the misfortunes”. More on the next paragraph.

Vote Buying

No, Vote Buying is not legal, handout welfare is.
Let’s twist the system a bit.

If you vote me, everyone with the Social Security number end with a Even number or the number 3 will get $USD 100.

not so different with

If you vote me, “misfortunes” (which is 60% population) will get the welfare increased.

It’s all about incentives

In a situation that I directly help others. I would want to have good use of the money, I spend less if I don’t see fit. I’ll shop around for goods that would help them most.
Charities had incentive to be more transparent and effective, so that I’ll join their course. Which is matter to me (And, matters to the one I help, since I care them)

In a situation of some one play robinhood, the government wouldn’t… they want to use up all the granting, so that they can have same/more next year. Charities are not responding to that either, since the payer do not want to know how good they are, they just need to fill the numbers.

There are things should be organized by government, e.g. police, firefighter, those are public goods problem, no doubt.
But the welfare one is not, the welfare had drawn too high as far as I know after WWII.

This is what happening in US now

Doctors provide free/cheap medical and exaggerating, so that they can register more money from social security and company medical coverage.
Some Education institute provide Poor quality English Courses (And bad manners as well) to new immigrate, so that they can claim money from government.
Some poor people raise children that they can’t afford, because the Government will sponsor them.

This is what happening in China now

There are effectively no welfare (except for the government staff).
No one is unemployed, being unemployed means no income, means starving.
We take cares of ourself.

It’s cruel, but efficient.

Don’t Force Us to Donate

In the event Sichuan Earthquake, The Chinese from all around the world had donated a massive fund for it.
(And from other races and countries as well, I would say thank you for them)
We are not forced, yet we do our part.

Mr. Government, Get back to your public goods, reduce your intervention.
Do not make us to do what you think is important.

We know more, simply because we care.

Seth got a new site Good for him, I really like the theme and layout, and I expect with higher degree of freedom on the site, we’ll had more interesting thing going on there…
And the podcast, now that’s one is great, Although he did a little nervous on his first one, I guess tonight’s one will be great, Keep it on, Seth!

That’s remind me the time I get my own domain name. Someone told me that, I am so lucky that I can get a domain with my own name. It’s kinda reverse, I get people call me Zekta, after I got Zekta.com . A shorthand for my original 8-letter long net-name. My parent and friend call my Chinese name (and other nick name) anyway.
Uniqueness is what I am looking for when I am creating this name. So that Google will rank me higher for anyone who look for me (If anyone ever wanted to).

JMTC IRC

JMTC IRC, what’s more exciting than that… I feel so noob after I listen to the chat with some giant in JMTC forum.

A slip of thought pass thru my mind that I wonder if I should keep blogging. Nan, They really should start blogging, but until then, I am safe . (finger crossed) But then I’ll have great blog to read, That would be nice too, that’s okay…

My Business

Aka Time to Cut loss

The Arctic Fur and Titan Changes interrupted my purchase plan. Now, I got 3 set of Arctic Fur and some Titan Steel to unload. Should able to get them out before the 3.3 patch.

I get my hand on two epic BOE dropped in Ulduar, and I got no use of it. I noticed that the price drop when the new raid CD refresh (New supply I guess) I’ll keep that until Sat-Sun….

I really got not much to said about business and gold making lately. (Got tons of ideas from IRC chat though…)

My Raid

aka Gold Pugs are Loverly!

I Bought 2×245 upgrade from 25 ToC Normal. For 1k each. The Trinket and Main Hand sold for 6k each, I should get my hand on that next time. But since it’s my first bidding, I should test the water before jumping in. A side note, The [Trophy of the Crusade] Sold for 4k each.

At the end of the pug, each person got 2.2k. Which my net payment is 200g (it’s more like wage than profit, since I worked for it) With gemming and enchant, it’s even. (I am not using epic gem, since it’s 100% price, but only get 10-20% increase in stats)

I would said it’s even better than a “roll pug”. Chances of getting upgrade much lower (and Much inefficient), since rival-role player will roll on a minor upgrade, since it cost them nothing.

Note-to-self: I should talk more about gold-pug later on.

No, I am not accepting technology excuse for that.

Reason #1328: Why Healing is hard
I can’t learn or test out my healing spec without risking people’s life.
And, Even in real time action, it’ll probably like feeling rather than an experimental result.

“Heal someone, or heal youself for the HPS.” Some might suggest
This is not working, take shaman as example
1. Blessing of Eternal : Chance earthliving become 100% (When Target at low health)
2. Chain Heal stop when there is no target in range
3. Ancestral Awakening: Heal some one in 40 yard range, effective noone!

And, where can I learn about healing?
5 man heroic is a piece of cake, since everyone is outgearing them
And In raid, there always are some outgeared healer around.
Also I am well aware how some skill combo each other, I just need to learn that as a reflex…

The Solution

The only solution so far, is : M&S…
/yay finally got an use of them

I can keep up the group with 1-2 M&S, which effectively leeching my mana, for healing those unnecceasrry damage and over pulling couple of trash together.

Carrying M&S is the only option for healer to face any difficulties hard enough for them to earn that skill.
While I avoid meeting M&S at all cost, Running PUG Heroic Daily designated you meet such situation once a week.

QQ: Blizzard, please give us some dummy to heal. So that we can work out our “rotation” or talents.

With trading,
Anyone in azeroth can be in a farm-free state
Anyone in azeroth no longer need to grind for consumable, repair bill, enchanting and gemming
Anyone in azeroth can be on baby mammoth (Not recommended however)

Excuses

“I don’t need gold” -
you need, let’s face it. Even you are not into vanity like Me/Gevlon/Seth. You still need to pay your repair bill / consumption/ gear enchants etc. Unless you stop raiding and pvping altogether, you need money. And there are different way to gather the money you need. Why don’t take your time and find a good way for it? (And proven profitable e.g. crafting)

“I don’t have time for this” -
Trading didn’t mean AH-camping, which some of our fellow trader trade in that style, but it’s not necessary. You can still be rich without camping. Yes, you may earn less compared to those camper. (Here’s why). But so are working, you work less, you gain less. I would said the loss is acceptable, Trading still give you much higher gold/hour then other form of grinding.

Take my glyph industry as example, I post twice a day, which takes me 1 hour, which reward around 1-2k gold per day, While the mail getting and posting part is mostly afk.

“It’s too complicate for me” -
if you notice, this is the same line a M&S would said. “I can’t do 1800+ dps” , “I can’t get out of the fire”, “I can’t interrupt/CC/[Insert any task here]“. No, trading is not hard, compare the time you need to grind to the same amount of gold. Some area in the trade is easy to learn, e.g. Cross Faction Pet Selling, Cooking Receipt Gathering.

I know the picture is scary to some of us, but this is not the only way.

“I am not that kinda evil trader, who prey on poor and clueless people” -
These group of people, In Gevlon’s word, Social. Trading is not evil, in terms of economic, a efficient trade will give everyone better off. Econ 101: Alisa want an glyph/[whatever goods], she is willing to pay 20g, Bob want to sell a glyph, he’s willing part with it at 5g. When the transaction happen, we had a 10g net gain. The bargaining only occur between 5-20g range, otherwise, the trade will never occur. The so-called evil-trader can and will do his twit and twist on pushing the price near 20g, but can never exceed it, the trade will always be efficient, as long as the trade is voluntary.

“I may lost money” -
This is the greatest resistance for anyone to get into trading.
Translated in Social’s word, “losing make me feel stupid, and that should be avoid at all cost. Grinding, Farming, Doing Daily is risk-free, I rather spend my time there”.
Everything induce risk, and the price for “risk-free” is so high that you don’t even had to think twice on that. And, the risk factor usually is over estimated by ignorance. Trading is not about luck.

For 100% risk free investment, everybody will be drawn into it, and thus the profit will be lowered. Simple Demand Supply rules.
However, since most of the people drawn to those risk-free option, which left the risk bearing opportunity much more profitable. Identify those risk, and when odds are good, strike. That’s what it takes for a trader.

Conclusion

Did you hear these word from your guild mate? Or did you hear this from your heart?
It’s okay, everyone prefer a comfortable place and afraid of change, but given embracing this can change the very game play of yours (farm-free state, anyone?)

At least give it a try.
