Secret! Reason behind Post-Patch Price Spike Of Fish

Fishing Bot

Did you notice, after each patch,
The price of Fish and Eternal Water will raise?
And then fall back to normal after 1-2 week?

Demand for buff food increases after patch? That’s one of the factor…
But Today I’ll tell you a secret one….

Fishing activities, reduced a lot after each patch. But after 1-2 week, they’ll return to normal.
The shortage of supply will cause the spike.

One of the reasoning would be fisher gone to raid, after the patch.
That’s possible too…

The Reason

But one of my friend got another explanation.
The 1-3 week is highly co-related to the bot-program update schedule.
On the very day the new bot version hit the net, price start to drop significantly.

You don’t need a bot nor be a fisher to get profit

By knowing this cycle, you can just buy those fish when the price lay low and Supply the market in those 1-2 weeks. Beware that you need to sell all stock in 2 weeks though…

Thoughts

Sadly,
I don’t have enough data to prove this observation…
Maybe anyone can continue this work?

What bot are you talking about?

  • Zekta Chan Says:

There are programs, like glider will fish for you.

    Yes, it’s against Blizzard’s Eula,
and WILL get you ban if you use it…

Still, I am convinced there are people using it in my server. And, the fish market is affect by that…

It’s a econ respond of the market for that. (Profiting by knowing this but not botting yourself is acceptable I would say)

    P.s
I am not going to disclose or hint anything about where to find the bot here…

Really interesting theory. I’ll have to keep a closer eye on this fluctuation.

  • Kevmar Says:

The reason for this is that the bots need to check the new updates for new memory locations. Some of them look at wow while it is running to get information and each compile (patch) changes where those are.

The other reason is that is also when Blizzard updates Warden. A bot is only considered safe on the release it was checked on. Anyone using a bot and does not update it after a patch greatly increases his odds that he will get banned. Updates to Warden need to be countered with a new release of the bot. It is a cat and mouse game.

My theory is that a new bot gets released quickly after the patch, but they need a few weeks of running it to see if they get banned.

More recently, I think these bots have been getting banned.

Ban ‘em all and sow the ground with salt…

Yeah, I hate fishing bots! Back in classic, ruined a decent Stonescale Eel fishing business.

I haven’t noticed that big of an affect; perhaps it’s sneaking up on me, or being on a medium pop server, botters may not be bothering with it’s market.

  • Hugmenot Says:

I never played the fish market but heck, I will give it a try and invest 8-10K. I will post an update a couple of weeks after 3.3 is released.

  • Zekta Chan Says:

    Thanks for all,
(especially Kevmar for explain the In and Out of a bot program.)
I would like to point out that, this observation is on Taiwan Server.

I am not quite sure if it apply to US/EU server.

It would be nice that Jederus and Hugmenot would like to test out the theory.

    Let me know :)
