EvE Online

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Although I decided I won’t play EvE in near future, the game design was great.

Every MMORPG I came across suffer heavily in price inflation, new player cannot catch up with old player, NPC based Economy, divided Dev force.

EvE had a relatively small team compare to WoW. And yet the whole game run on it’s own. There aren’t much stress on developer for new content, since the game content is so deep in design that, no one had the time to figure out the whole picture.

Risk, Challenges mostly are posed by other player, rather than Developer keep designing new mechanisms. What WoW fail deeply in, excelled in EvE.

It feature in human-human interaction, cooperation and trust. Although the system do not cater player as WoW, fraud and hostile action is common in EvE. Yet people trust each other in this setup.
Internet and moreover MMORPG had a bad reputation on human trust. As Anyone can drop out at anytime, there aren’t much trustworth among players. But from observing those co-operation we can see the dim on humanity.

I really enjoy my time in the New Eden, Thanks CCP :)

I am having a bad bad day

Monday, August 30th, 2010

I am having a bad bad day, Things get busy on every Monday morning..
But in this morning, an stochastic bug crash the alpha release code.
Disabling the whole feature we had been working on for weeks.

We had been spending hours to fix the bug, and yet cannot totally get rid of it…
A fix introduce more error, and the cycle continue….

I need some fresh air to take it fixed, and to look into other thing which sprung out…

The reason I am not playing EvE again (for Now)…

I must said I love this game.
The graphic is nice, the idea is neat, The game play is awesome.
Thought they need to have a lot to iron out, e.g. UI, Font Size etc…

It’s a matter of me rather than the game myself.
I had a brain squeezing job, Day and Night I am doing calculation and design all the way.
While I love the competition of market, production and hauling (for relaxation)
I really can’t spend much brain juice on the issue.
Not to say precious planning time when my brain functional fully.

I’ll not be back to rens, until my brain can spare those bandwidth :P

失眠夜歌曲重溫 2010_8_20

Whenever sang my songs
On the stage, on my own

Whenever said my words
Wishing they would be heard.

I saw you smiling at me
Was it real or just my fantasy

You’d always be there in the corner
Of this tiny little bar

My last night here for you
Same old songs, just once more

My last night here with you?
Maybe yes, maybe no.

I kind of liked it your way
How you shyly placed your eyes on me

Oh did you ever know?
That I have mine on you

=====

Darling, so there you are
With that look on your face

As if you’re never hurt
As if you’re never down.

Shall I be the one for you
Who pinches you softly but sure

If frown is shown then
I will know that you are no dreamer

So let me come to you
Close as I wanna be

Close enough for me
To feel your heart beating fast.

And stay there as I whisper
How I loved your peaceful eyes on me

Did you ever know
That I have mine on you

=====

Darling, so share with me
Your love if you have enough

Your tears if you’re holding back
Or pain if that’s what it is

How can I let you know
I’m more than the dress and the voice

Just reach me out then
You would know that you’re not dreaming

Back to Geek-mode

Due to some unforeseen reason (M$ window 7 find out it’s not “real”)
I escape back to my old lair

The Open Source Paradise….
It had been quite a while when I first touched linux.
If memory serves, that was Red-Hat 4, (You can guess how young I was)
and trying to install that into a 250mb hdd (Not 250g!)

And…. I failed that time….

Things had changed, I am so happy that this time, not to said that all my driver seems okay at the moment (And got my two monitor working on first run)
I know I’ll soon run into some nasty problem, but I am kinda contented so far :P

Thanks, BTW I am running Mint now, thanks Kevin Mak for the suggestion :)

Blogging Productivity

Monday, August 16th, 2010

I had a slow blogging/writing foot print…

Simply put that, I had a very limited time/concentration on writing blog post.
Say 1.5-2 post per day…

You may asked, I only update p3p per 2 week period. Since there are always too much event happens before I would make time for a blogpost.

The following list of event will consume my energy of the day quota:
Email spam at the morning
Project deadline
Program code (other than work)
SoS on system, e.g. webserver, dns, codes etc
Long forum post worth reading
Game relase
Sick
Not enough sleep.

the list can go on…

Another thing is that, I need the post finish in one shot.
If I got sidetracked, or the post is too long, I’ll probably save it on the “never-published-draft-area”

Yeah, I know that makes me a bad blogger :(
forgive me

Seth decided stop blogging about WoW

http://phase3profit.net/2010/07/everything-that-has-a-beginning-has-an-end/

Nufy to said I had been blogging for Wow-Econ for a year, Seth and I was always side by side.
I was pretty sad about his departure, tbh.

My P3P Blog had more article and visitor than here. Ironically, I started blogging here and have it in Chinese.
What a Long Strange Trip It’s Been.
I learnt a lot in the progress, I always mention that on each of my review post.

Let’s list out what I had earned from building P3P.

  • English, One thing I must admin, my English is pretty sucks when I start blogging. But with a year of intensive writing and reading, I improved a lot(I believe)
  • Making friends, some people do not consider “online friend” as RL friend. Wrong, very wrong. As with a real person can cheat you, so are online friendship. Take the same precaution with stranger on street. However, if you can appreciate and fulfill commitment, Online friendship can be very real. My team in GDPlay.com are meet online and work together, and our friendship had lasted for 10+ years. Seth, BigJimm, Larisa, Gevlon, Markco…. all are good people to learn from (Selectively)
  • SEO, tbh, p3p had the greatest success on website I build so far. Even in the first company I worked for, P3P’s Alexa traffic rank is higher than the peak of them
  • Guts, building a blog is like standing up to the platform. It’s not for everyone, but once you get the first step out, you can achieve something you can never dream of. Holding back always achieve nothing.

FYI, I include P3P in resume I send out for jobs. I am proud of that.

Revision on the ART…

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

When I was searching a list of book recommending to others,
I found a pile of them, categorized as “General Programming” Book

Last time I read those book was preparing to be a programmer.
There are lots of practice standards, and what to do situation.

After my graduation, I seldom look into those book again.
And how much I make those practice into day to day work ? I would think only a dozen, lesser than 50%….
Time to go back to basics…

New Company

Monday, August 9th, 2010

I had changed company in the beginning of this year, But I had never mentioned it.
tbh, this company is quite nice, Although there are always something hidden under the curtain in any company, so far it meet up most of my expectation.

Acceptable work time and challenging job is a must, and I am glad that it’s no spoon-feeding type of coding environment.
The last thing I need is to be told what to do, instead of design for different scenario and expectation.

There are much I would apply on the time I was a freelancer, how to handle client, crystallize agreement. People are naturally friendly in the company, not much notable argument or likewise trouble issues.

And last but not least, a bunch of playful workmate is one always seek.
Nice work, tbh :)
