The catch about the boost thing is that the DK want to collect wool and silk for leveling tailoring.
So she decided to do it herself, and she even let us keep on the loot (Blueies and greenies).

I didn’t pick much, since the other alts are so eager to loot all the corpses, and I don’t really need that. (In goblin term, I don’t even want to do the clicking)

I tried to give her some advice (Since I would said it’s pretty time consuming on farming wools there)

She should consider buying cloth on AH, instead of farming that herself. (Consider 2-3 stacks of wool, per run of stockack, and it’s sold 1-2G per stack?)
- She refused, I suspect she had no idea of what’s opportunity cost

Boost people for payment and buy those cloth is much more effective (If she’s not willing to pay for cloth)
- She refused too, for a social reason “people boost me before, so I shouldn’t charge others for it”

The price on AH is on 4-5g due to shortage on weekend, so I told her if she ever consider to buy them, she better do it on weekday

She believe the cloth should be sold at 50% price (50s) on what show on my auctioneer average, and said anyone selling higher than that is a evil trader (Bxxxtard etc). I doubt that anyone will sell her except morons.

I was thinking to sell her on 1g (100% market price), for some stock remaining in my mail box, (I would lost 200% if I put that on the market, since they’re 300%+ now).
But I didn’t even suggest that (Since she won’t accept that price anyway).

Finally I offered some tips on where to farm for mageweave. (If you really had to farm, at least find somewhere worth your time)

I can foresee she’ll be farming the instance for hours to get her tailoring up.
While telling her to stop boosting others is against my own interest (Since I can be boosted too), but….

There is not much I could do,
if she just didn’t listen to advice.
But at least she is happy about this (may be).

Why Having Alts increase Gold/Hour

In respond to Gevlon’s Post
No, I am not against his point.

But Rather I want to point out why people think (Or may be indeed there are) there is a synergy

Time reduced on listing and buying (Gevlon’s point)

Reduced some factor on price fluctuation (Since you had more way to get what good you want, e.g. Infinity Dust for Bags, can be from Gears (Disenchant) / Eternal Earth (JC/Disenchant) rather than LFCrafter)

More Profession, really means more Gold/Hour! (Thus the Reason for this post)

Why More Gold/Hour

Said giving a profitable profession A, (Same apply to dailies as well)
There are Three Operation to earn gold
A1, yields A1g/hour
A2, yields A2g/hour
A3, yields A3g/hour
for A1g>A2g>A3g, a rational person will always pick A1 first…

the catch is, A1g will decrease if you keep doing Operation A1 …. (Making/Selling too much Netherweave bag, will result in returning bags, which increase the deposit cost and time needed) Diminishing_returns

Gaining access to an additional profession grant him more choices, (Think of open up new daily quests for a player, with similar Gold/Hour Ratio to the existing…

Gaining access to an additional profession grant him more choices, (Think of open up new daily quests for a player, with similar Gold/Hour Ratio to the existing ones…)
Say Profession B, with A1>B1>A2>B2>A3>B3

With a player can only do 3 Operation,
Player with only A will do (A1,A2,A3)
Player with both will do (A1,B1,A2)
Which always had a higher Gold/Hour (B1 > A3) by definition

Exceptions

1. One operation already use up all the time of the player’s play time. (e.g. for Casual Traders or glyph making (Which need very long AFK time))
in that case, Since Player can only do one operation, picking one profession is enough
2. There exist one or two Master profession with All A > Bs

In which case, having another profession gives you no benefits at all…

However, Don’t

Don’t mistaken me of agreeing on leveling alts for profit
Even with DK, that’s a large chunk of time to spend, The extra Gold/Hour just couldn’t justify it.
