Another week

Blogosphere

One-Copper.com

Seth got a new site :) Good for him, I really like the theme and layout, and I expect with higher degree of freedom on the site, we’ll had more interesting thing going on there…
And the podcast, now that’s one is great, Although he did a little nervous on his first one, I guess tonight’s one will be great, Keep it on, Seth!

That’s remind me the time I get my own domain name. Someone told me that, I am so lucky that I can get a domain with my own name. It’s kinda reverse, I get people call me Zekta, after I got Zekta.com . A shorthand for my original 8-letter long net-name. My parent and friend call my Chinese name (and other nick name) anyway.
Uniqueness is what I am looking for when I am creating this name. So that Google will rank me higher for anyone who look for me (If anyone ever wanted to).

JMTC IRC

JMTC IRC, what’s more exciting than that… I feel so noob after I listen to the chat with some giant in JMTC forum.

A slip of thought pass thru my mind that I wonder if I should keep blogging. Nan, They really should start blogging, but until then, I am safe :) . (finger crossed) But then I’ll have great blog to read, That would be nice too, that’s okay…

My Business

Aka Time to Cut loss

The Arctic Fur and Titan Changes interrupted my purchase plan. Now, I got 3 set of Arctic Fur and some Titan Steel to unload. Should able to get them out before the 3.3 patch.

I get my hand on two epic BOE dropped in Ulduar, and I got no use of it. I noticed that the price drop when the new raid CD refresh (New supply I guess) I’ll keep that until Sat-Sun….

I really got not much to said about business and gold making lately. (Got tons of ideas from IRC chat though…)

My Raid

aka Gold Pugs are Loverly!

I Bought 2×245 upgrade from 25 ToC Normal. For 1k each. The Trinket and Main Hand sold for 6k each, I should get my hand on that next time. But since it’s my first bidding, I should test the water before jumping in. A side note, The [Trophy of the Crusade] Sold for 4k each.

At the end of the pug, each person got 2.2k. Which my net payment is 200g (it’s more like wage than profit, since I worked for it) With gemming and enchant, it’s even. (I am not using epic gem, since it’s 100% price, but only get 10-20% increase in stats)

I would said it’s even better than a “roll pug”. Chances of getting upgrade much lower (and Much inefficient), since rival-role player will roll on a minor upgrade, since it cost them nothing.

Note-to-self: I should talk more about gold-pug later on.
That’s a “short” update for this week
Happy Hallow End :)

BrewFest Trade

Zekta Chan
Zekta Chan

Direbrew

No, this post is not about gold.
It’s about pursuits of the Brewfest Mount

So, a normal player are meeting Direbrew 5 times a day.
Some of them is wishing the brewfest mount drop, so they gotta roll on that. With many replicated trinket left behind.

Is that the only way?
How about paying people for summoning Direbrew?

I got an even cheaper solution.

Asking player to summon Direbrew for free…
Yes, it’s cool, but how to get them to do it for free?

Secret ingredient: 75-79 player.

Of course, some of them will fight the boss with their guildmate, but still lots of them are rejected in the PUG channel.

Offer them the Trinket you don’t need anyway
(if it drops, let them have it, Not suitable of their class? it’s free, come tomorrow)
And request that you can get the mount if it drop.

It’s a fair deal for both of you.
Free Summon for Free Trinket.

P.s I know this post is kinda late, but we still got couple of days left~~

Change of Player Composition in Battle Ground

Zekta Chan
Zekta Chan

wow_motivation_poster_dedication

Especially true on the 71 to 80 AV Bracket (As of pre-3.2.2)

Player Composition

1. Serious Pvper – Who want to win the battle with strategy and group work.
2. Gankers – Who want to show how powerful they are, by one hit others. And they can’t twink anymore, since they can only face player who are twink as well (From the XP lock system). They want to slaughter, not a fair game… (I am not saying all twink are ganker, but the ganker had a large portion of the pre-3.2 twink community)
3. Low level pvper, (and now, Leveler) – The High level player (e.g. 80 or 70) used to boo them for dragging back the team. But they become the major group in Battle Ground now.

What happened in 3.2

Group 3 increase dramatically, just like what happened welfare Epic handed out back in TBC.
Incentive of leveling in AV is huge (I got a level (73) in AV in 8 battles on Sunday as well).

Group 2 increased as well,
Since the twink battleground do not work anymore, rather than spending hour in the wild for picking low level player, they can just kill those 72-74 player, who are definitely squishy for them.

Conflict of interest

Player in Group 1 and 3 want smooth battle, fast-game since XP only reward on achieving goals only.

While Group 2 (Gankers) don’t give a damn, they just want to show how IMBA (they think) they are, they are the guy who (attempts) kill everyone they come across, start fight in cross road, which will ends up in a turtle game.

Summary

Pre 3.2, the effect of gankers is much more devastating. Since in the past, opposite group 1 players are powerful enough out-weights the gankers,

while in 3.2 the leveler is helpless against them (And thus fuel them with oil).

Thus the setup will shift the balance of fast game to turtle game.

The 3.2.2 71-79, 80 bracket change should able to ease the problem.

Advice – They need it yet they don’t want

Zekta Chan
Zekta Chan
Stockades

Yesterday, when I finished my auctions posting, I saw a 62lv DK spamming /trade “Free Boost in the Stockade”

I could use some _Free_ leveling for my banker for travel from (Druid)

I joined the party, and most of them recognize my bank alts name from the AH (Fame may not be a good thing for us though).

The catch about the boost thing is that the DK want to collect wool and silk for leveling tailoring.
So she decided to do it herself, and she even let us keep on the loot (Blueies and greenies).

I didn’t pick much, since the other alts are so eager to loot all the corpses, and I don’t really need that. (In goblin term, I don’t even want to do the clicking)

I tried to give her some advice (Since I would said it’s pretty time consuming on farming wools there)

  1. She should consider buying cloth on AH, instead of farming that herself. (Consider 2-3 stacks of wool, per run of stockack, and it’s sold 1-2G per stack?)
    - She refused, I suspect she had no idea of what’s opportunity cost
  2. Boost people for payment and buy those cloth is much more effective (If she’s not willing to pay for cloth)
    - She refused too, for a social reason “people boost me before, so I shouldn’t charge others for it”
  3. The price on AH is on 4-5g due to shortage on weekend, so I told her if she ever consider to buy them, she better do it on weekday
  4. She believe the cloth should be sold at 50% price (50s) on what show on my auctioneer average, and said anyone selling higher than that is a evil trader (Bxxxtard etc). I doubt that anyone will sell her except morons.

I was thinking to sell her on 1g (100% market price), for some stock remaining in my mail box, (I would lost 200% if I put that on the market, since they’re 300%+ now).
But I didn’t even suggest that (Since she won’t accept that price anyway).

Finally I offered some tips on where to farm for mageweave. (If you really had to farm, at least find somewhere worth your time)

I can foresee she’ll be farming the instance for hours to get her tailoring up.
While telling her to stop boosting others is against my own interest (Since I can be boosted too), but….

There is not much I could do,
if she just didn’t listen to advice.
But at least she is happy about this (may be).

Sometimes, the reason for people remain poor is themselves.

Time is not our friend, Watson

Zekta Chan
Zekta Chan

Holmes in a rush

Holmes in a rush

I started my time racing.
Many may not know that, My server (on TW)
have had a different patch schedule than the US and EU

That is we are still not on 3.1 yet.

Normally it’ll be 2 days behind (Our Maintenance day will be on Thursday)
Last week’s 3.1 outage on US server delayed the patch for a week (may be another?)

As many WOW Economy results come out from US,

JMTC and  Warcraft Econ

Things does not go as we predicted.
(I’ll wrote a post on why I was not prepared for 3.1 tomorrow, but it seems outdated for now)
E.g.
Ethereal is not required that much in BS recipes
Raid are having difficult time at Ulduar,
and PUGs seems cannot pass through the barrier anyhow.
Flooding on the market for the gold for dual spec.

All of these, forced me to have a change in plan in my investment.
That’s Liquidize for now, and do stockpiling when 3.1 hits.
And I”ll only had 1/2 days for it. (The earliest I can get in is 7pm)
While trade fast is not my style.
(It induce lose of profits)
The market price change will have devaste impact on my end game stocks.

So wish me luck on that…

Plan

Must do:
Sell half of the bars I got before
Sell ALL meats (Since people will keep farming, and fish will fulfill their needs for raid)
Sell Excess Etheral Earth

May do:
Sell all TitanSteel bars

I’ll mostly sell them thought channel to reduce the trade time….

=====

I failed to sell those [Saronite Bar] and [item]TitanSteel Bar/[item]
the buyout price on AH is already 30% off the market price
and I am not ready to say good bye to them in these price,
I’ll pay for the rent in bank for the price to climb back.
(I am considering to think like goods place should count rents,
since it’ll take resource for me to take care of it,
and earn extra space for them, Opportunity cost in some sense)
I had sold the [Saronite Bar] by crafting them into arrows.
Although I don’t how long will they keep on buying on that price.
At least it can slowly consume my stockpile.

The Meat sold beautifully however.
Which gain me more cash for the buying berserk next week.
